Growing up, my brother and I were like two peas in a pod. We were always together and extemely close. I care about him so much, so naturally I worry about him all the time.
He really has a problem with drinking and it disturbs me to no end. You would not believe all the calls I have got at all times of the night. My heart always skips a beat when our phone rings at night, because I’m like what has he done now :(.
I really want to find him some help or something that will make him wake up and realize there is so much more to life than drinking. You do not have to go through life depending on alcohol.
While doing a search online for an Alcohol Rehab Program, I came across this neat Cliffside Malibu house. They plainly say on their site, that Alcohol abuse is a disease. I know it is, because he keeps turning to alcohol. I really like how, they treat depression in the rehab treatment along with the alcohol abuse. I know without a shadow of a doubt, that his depression is an underlying cause and he feels better about himself when he’s drunk.
This alcohol rehab place really works with you on an individual basis to help you come to terms with what you are doing to your body. He needs that and they have around the clock care as well. Its so much deeper than the disease and if he would just let someone work and care for him like at this alcohol rehabilitation place, then I think he can walk out a winner and get his life back on the right path of success.
I know he cannot do this alone, and this is such a great family atmosphere and not an hospital atmosphere to where I think it would help rid his body of this awful disease. Please pray for him that he can make the right steps to sobriety.

Remember my story? Tim? Remember?
He’s 30 days sober again. Can you believe it? Of course, it took 3 DUIs and an an accident in which he should’ve DIED to make him wake up, but he did.
And he’s 30 days sober. Prayers work. And I’m praying. Hard.

You are an amazing sister! What I’ve learned from family experiences and any addiction is that he or she has to want to; otherwise our efforts are for nothing. The other thing is to never give up, hence the prayer request… it s something that has never hurt anyone.

I am going to say a few things that maybe you don’t want to hear… but with a situation like this… it is reality… my ex (b/f) was an alcoholic and I don’t know how many times I tried to help him etc it turned out that I was the ‘crutch’ for him… to run to when he needed help etc in the end I had to be strong and so NO to all he wanted me to do – at one stage I would do anything for him but it wasn’t helping him… my breaking point with him was that he was draining the life out of me, I was ‘down’ all the time, stressed, he stole and lied to me – that was when I had enough… but one thing I have learnt is that if he ‘truly’ wants help… he will basically hit rock bottom and has to truly wants the help… it is sad to read I know but it is true… I am not saying ‘give up’ on him but you can’t let his disease bring you down and your family down too… hang in there… you are in my thoughts… take care

Any type of addiction like drinking/smoking/drugs is sooooo hard to kick but with the support of family and a really good program it can happen. I’ll pray.

I hope he is able to see he needs help and is able to gather the strength to conquer it. Addiction is so hard.
