My four year old is really into asking questions lately. We were here in my office one day this week and she looked up from playing with her toys and said mom… Are we rich? I stuttered for a moment and said are we rich? She said yes mom are we rich? I said sure we are. We are rich in love sweetie. We have all the love in our family that anybody would want.
She proceeded to run down the hall and yell woohoo we are rich!!! Now where on earth did she learn the term rich from? It really blowed my mind. I honestly don’t think she knows rich means money since she took the answer about we are rich in love.
I would never want her to worry about money issues in the family, or worry about that she has the latest new toy or clothes. I know I may have to cross that bridge in time when she gets older, but I would like to just stick with what I said. We are rich… rich in love. My blessing is for her and Lyndsee to know they are loved and mommy would do anything in the world for them. They are my heart and life and I know the same goes with daddy. He loves his girls.
So if your child asks you this question.. what would you say? I think the rich in love phrase is good hehe ๐

My 5 year old son asked me this recently too, he has been very much into the questions phase! It just about drove me nuts ๐
But when he asked us I told him that since we had clothes, a home, plenty of food and toys, that we were richer than most people in the world, and that we were also rich in love and spiritually rich too.
Love it! They’re constantly thinking about things. ๐

What a sweetie! I love that questioning stage that children naturally go though. BTW – being RICH in love is a blessing.
