Today I just want to take a moment and say how thankful I am of my doggy son Kingston. He is such a great part of our family and do you want to know the reason why? Because he has helped our L so much! You see L has some major sensory issues but one thing for certain she has always enjoyed doggies. When we finally decided to get one, we just knew L’s eyes would light up and were they ever. Kingston and L are truly best of friends. She is always asking if he can go to school with her. She misses him so much. They roll in the floor together and play and play and play. Let me just show you in pictures 😉
Day 11 Thankful for Gift of Life
Today I am thankful for getting up enough courage to go give blood for the first time! I have always wanted to but kept putting it off because I thought it would hurt. Now, I have never been afraid of giving blood at the dr’s office, but I knew at the blood drives you have to give a whole lot of blood.
I walked in and had the biggest smile on my face and knew I was going to DO THIS. I took my oldest daughter with me for moral support. I only had to wait about 10 minutes before they called my name to come on back. They checked my iron levels and did my blood pressure. At first she said my blood pressure in my right arm and it was 160 over something… I was like ummm not hardly. I have never had any blood pressure problems. Yes, I admit I was a bit nervous but not that much. So, she took my blood pressure in the other arm. It was 130 over something which still seems high for me since mine is usually 104 over 70. Anyways she said that was good and they could accept that.
I go get in the chair and they prick me which didn’t bother me at all. I sat there squeezing this ball while the blood dripped into the bag. M was like “Does that not hurt mommy”. It sure didn’t. I couldn’t even feel it the whole time. They came by and kept checking then finally said I was done. A nurse came in to take out the needle and try to get me to stop bleeding. After a couple tries they finally had to put more pressure because I was still freely giving blood. Thank goodness they got it to stop and they go to put my arm down and there I went. I told the nurse that I wasn’t feeling too good and that I felt like I was going to pass out. That’s all I remember…I then remember looking up and seeing about five people over me and the nurse telling me to cough, keep coughing, then a guy was holding a fan into my face. They gave me something to drink and some crackers… I began feeling like myself. They had me stay there for a good bit to make sure I was going to be ok. I missed school tonight 🙁 because of this. I knew M would be freaked so I asked where she was and one of the nurses had took her to the back because she was very worried about mommy. She asked me later if I had went to sleep… poor baby girl.
Anywho… I still feel a little weak but its all good. I’m just so happy I finally did this and could help out. The blood levels are really low right now so that is what pushed me to do this. Even after all this, I will go back and do it again. I will be more prepared for next time :).
Day 10 Thankful for My Daughter’s Tribute to Veterans
Day 9 Thankful for Our Veterans
Today I am so thankful for our Veterans. Their jobs are one of the hardest jobs out there, yet they go proudly and fight for us each and everyday to make sure we can maintain our freedom. Folks, now that is a true hero. They care so much about us and our country that they are putting their life on the line each and everyday! I am so thankful and proud of you Veterans. You all are always in our prayers and thoughts all during the year. I’m so glad we can dedicate this time to you so we all can show you our support.
M’s school had “Bring a Vet Day” to school last Friday. The first grade classes put this together each year and M was so excited that her classroom was homebase and that she would get to greet and meet the veterans first. Her teacher gave her a speaking part for this big day and she was so eager to learn it. Once she learned it, she was repeating it to us all day long. Last Friday morning, the excitement in her voice and the sparkle in her eyes was just priceless. She could not wait to get to school and see how her classroom had transformed into Vet central and be able to meet all the Vets. I just love her soul because she said mommy I just want to tell them thank you! They have been talking in class all about the different divisions of the military and I believe she is so excited to get to meet each branch. I’m so thankful her school did this and to bring more awareness to our Veterans.
I will post a video tomorrow of her doing a song in sign language for the Veterans. She definitely made us proud :).
Thank you Veterans for serving our country PROUDLY!!! We love and adore you all.
Day 8 Thankfulness for a Job
I am truly thankful for my job.
These times in the economy, I think everyone that has a job can get on their knees and show how thankful they are. I will gladly stand-up and show how thankful I am for my job. As many know, I have worked at home since M was born almost 7 years ago now. I did not return after my maternity leave with her as I just could not leave her. I always have worked full-time during the whole process except last year. I had took time to take a step back since it was a rough beginning of 2008 for us. That is the year I made 6 trips back and forth to Florida with the girls and there was just no way to keep down a full-time job. Well the tables turned upside down, due to heart complications of my husband he was in a terrible car accident. This put him out of work on medical leave in which meant no money until insurance claim came to fruit which took 3.5 months. In the mean time, I new I needed to do something. I needed to take my part-time wages and up them to get our family to survive.
I sent out resume after resume and I finally got the call I had been really wanting. I went through 3 interviews and landed the job. It could have not came at a better time, because we were really hurting financially. We were having to live in my parent’s basement and had no idea how we were going to get Christmas for the girls. God showed us, that we did not need to worry. He had a path for me and I just know that is why he gave me this job opportunity. We ended up having a very Merry Christmas :).
It is coming up on a year with my job, and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. All my co-workers are true gems and are so supportive. It’s been an awesome ride and I’m so excited to see what Year 2 has in store.
My husband is still unemployed so I am now the breadwinner in the family, so that is just another plus to having a job I adore and can support my family with!
Here is a picture of my co-worker and I. I’m so thankful too for the big opportunity she gave me this summer to add on more work.
And here is a group shot of some social media co-partners that all actually enjoy Starbucks.. so we call ourselves the Starbucks gals. We need to reunite and do a Starbucks run soon!
I love my job! Thank you Lord for landing me land this wonderful and grand opportunity.
