First Day of PreK
What a busy few days we have had here lately… hence my missing in action on the blog ;). With the end of summer being this past weekend we wanted to make the weekend a special one for Madisyn so for Sunday she picked going to the beach… we had a blast just hanging out at the beach for the day and having no worries hehe. I knew I should have been home working as I am pretty backed up with work, but how could I just let the weekend slip away hiding in my office knowing this was the last weekend before school started?
So my mommy instincts came out and said it will be there when I shall return? It was there alright and I am still playing the catch up game, but its all worth it in the end right?
This brings us to the ole so sad, ole so happy day of yesterday. I have been dreading this day for a looooooooong time but Madisyn has been looking forward to this day for a looooooooooong time ๐
It's like ahhh haaa I get to be my miss independent self and be away from mommy for a bit. She loves to be independent so that is what I keep telling myself that Pre-K will be a good thing. Even though I done told her if she doesn't like it I will be glad to homeschool her. She says no mommy I'll be back you don't have to cry HA!.
We are off on our journey, but you know mommy had to halt her from getting into the van until we could get picts ;).
We actually get in the van and begin the journey with mommy trying so ever hard to fight back the tears. Madisyn keeps talking about how excited she is, and mommy is sitting here trying to convince herself its ok if your daughter is growing up it will be A-OK!
We drive into the dreaded parking spot and I begin to lose it… the girls happily jump out and hit the ground running:
While mommy tries to cherish those last minutes of my non-school girl :(. I just don't get out she was this little baby so independent of mommy and now she wants to do things herself and says mommy I am a big girl now!
Ok Jen try to move the tears away and get a snap of your baby girl and her mommy before she walks into class. You do want a good pict right?
We walk into the classroom Madisyn hugs me and I will not let her go ;). I just want to hold onto her forever and be her protector. She leaps over to her spot in circle time. Lyndsee follows her. Lyndsee babe, you can't stay with sissy, you go with mommy! No mommy I want to stay with sissy. Oh boy! I stand up and here goes the tears just flowing so easily and I'm trying to hold them back but just can't anymore.
Madisyn turns around looks at me.. mommy you can go now. I love you bye. But mommy doesn't want to go now… but mommy I don't want you staying with me all day. Please pass the napkins… I tell her I LOVE HER and we give each other the I love you sign and I go out the door hiding around the door and she looks back at me:
Mommy I see you… Oh darn she caught me. Lyndsee starts screaming mommy mommy go get sissy. We can't hun she is with her friends at school. I casually walk away but before I do I have to get my one good yell into Madisyn. I love you sweetheart mommy will be right back. She gives me the thumbs up and I proceed down the ever so long hallway :(.
I did it though, yes there were tears but I made it through. Those were the longest 3 hours though until I had to go back and get her. I walked in to get her and she yells there is my mommy. hehe. She came running full force and we just hug each other and I start crying again. HA! I have my little girl back. She did tell the truth and came back to me ;).
Only problem is she fell and busted her chin at gym time on the basketball court SIGH. I wasn't there to kiss her boo boo but mommy snuck it in when I saw it ;).
We survived day one and so now lets see how the rest of our days go. I'm sure sometime I may get accustomed to this… oh maybe when she's 18 HA!
How Do People Die
Now this weekend is dedicated to all about Madisyn and we are going to head out the door again soon, but I had to take a minute and post. See my little girl starts school tomorrow and it makes me want to cry which I am sure I will tomorrow even though she just goes three hours a day everyday, but still that's my little girl!
Last night we went to eat as a family and we are sitting there just chatting and coloring until our food comes. All of a sudden Madisyn pops up with "Mommy how do people die?" Ok after I pick up my jaw from off the table, I studder a little bit and umm yea umm daddy do you want to answer that for Madisyn?
But first Madisyn says mommy I know people die because I saw it on the news you were watching. My heart sank. I am not much of a tv watcher, but lately I have been glued to CNN because of the Miners in Utah. My heart just really aches for them. Well I was watching it when breaking news came in about three miners were killed in a collapse in the mine during resuce efforts. Guess who was sitting right beside me? Madisyn :(. I really did not realize the effect it put on her and I am going to have to pay more attention to what I am watching when she is in the living room.
"The Man" explains that death can happen a number of ways and he goes in about how different accidents happen. I pipe in and say and when someone dies they will go to Heaven while God will be there waiting with open arms to take you too his palace of Heaven. She took it pretty well and didn't really ask any more questions, but I can't help but wonder if I explained it good enough for her.
I know she is at the age to start asking questions now, but boy oh boy I didn't realize I would get these types of questions yet. If you have older kids, how have you explained this with your children?
I'll be back to read your questions tonight as we are out for a family day to do what Madisyn wants to do hehe.
I Have Had the Honor of Being Blagged
A fellow blogging mommy Melody over at Slurping Life has blagged me! I have just recently found Melody's blog but I am really addicted to it. If you need a smile on your face head on over and read her blog. ๐ Thanks Melody for blagging me hehe!
She put a new twist on the game.. so sorry moms you cannot hear 8 sexy things about me LOL! Here goes 8 careers that I have had in my lifetime :).
1) Lemondade Stand Owner – My early years of when my mom would have yard sales, I would set up shop and sell lemonade for 10 cents a cup. It was mighty good lemonade too ;).
2) Girl Scout Cookie Salesman – I was once that oh so cute girl in the brown outfit knocking on people's doors pleading with that puppy dog smile to please buy some cookies from me!
3) Magazines salesman – Since I made out so good with my cookie sales, I decided when I got to middle school I would like to sale magazines to raise money for my school hehe ๐ So evidently all the neighbors were not tired of me because I won a free trip to Mcdonalds in a limo. Oh I was talk of school then!
4) Babysitter – I decided to give up my sales crown and pass it on to my younger friends on the streets and take the babysitting crown. I was a sought out after babysitter.. you could here WE WANT JENNIFER WE WANT JENNIFER from miles and miles hahaha.
5) Cashier – Well babysitting days were over once I turned 16 as I had to make more money to keep my new set of wheels on the streets. You know I had to cruise the streets on Saturday nights instead of watching kids… that was just the cool thing to do ๐
6) Proofreader – Only so much you can take of scanning groceries and breaking cartons of eggs ;). Going home with that goo on your hands is all I could take so I begin a new job at a corporation of proofing their negatives. I thought I was hot stuff working at big dog's house.
7) Art Technician – They loved my skills as a proofreader that when I graduated from highschool I landed myself with my own desk and started designing the negatives instead of sitting and proofing them.
8) Virtual Assistant – You see I loved working at the big corporation but once I laid eyes on my first born there was no way that someone else was going to get their hands on my baby girl, so I set up shop in my own house and that is folks where I reside today with my career.
Hope you liked my stroll down memory career lane with me ๐

My New Dessert Friend
The girls and I were strolling the aisles of Target last night trying to figure out what would be a good dessert for after we ate supper last night. Since the man and I are watching our fat intake, I wanted to get something that is low in fat and still taste really good. That's not asking too much is it?
We were doing our casual walk and my eyes did a double take. Am I really seeing what I think I am seeing? A skinny cow! I have never seen these products before (and no I didn't get paid to do a plug for them hehe) but the product really wanted to make my mouth water. The girls were laughing because of the skinny cow on the carton.
I brought them home last night and they were a big hit in the house. Also I have to say they are gluten-free and nut-free for all my friends that cannot have gluten and nut products.
I think we have found a new dessert for our family. What is your family's favorite dessert… please share ๐
