Back a few months ago as some of you know Madisyn had some abornormal findings on her CT Scan. They wanted to followup with a MRI. We had that done Tuesday.
I was so pleased with the Hospital yesterday. They did very good with her after the crazy deal of being put to sleep at her CT Scan.
She was a little anxious so they gave her some “happy medicine”, just about a teaspoon full she had to drink from a little cup. That really calmed her down and relaxed her. When the dr’s would come in she would start smiling and doing little giggles and say I’m Madisyn! They gave her about 15 – 20 minutes to get that in her system good and came to take her down for the MRI. I got to be with her all the way down. She wanted me, so that was good.
She was so calm the whole time even when they wheeled her bed into the MRI room. Hey eyes got big though when she started looking around the room. I stepped out behind the glass to see if she would be ok while I was gone. She seemed fine, so they put a mask on her and off to sleep she went. Then they started the IV and put the tube down her throat. I was so happy for them to do that while she was sleeping.
The MRI lasted about 45 minutes and we just hung out in the waiting room. They come got me when it was over and said I could ride on the elevator with her up. At this point she was not awake yet, they were going to take her to recovery. They wouldn’t let me go to recovery with her, which I knew would make her mad when she woke up.
Within 15 minutes they had brought her to me. She was screaming. Her face had like red places all over her where I could tell she had been crying for a while. She looked at me and said mommy I am so scared. I couldn’t find you. I want this thing out of my arm OUT! She was mad and did not want that in her arm anymore. Sooo.. they said if I could get her to drink a cup full of apple juice they would take it out. I got in bed with her and kept saying Madisyn mommy is here and will not leave you. Let’s hurry and drink this apple juice so we can get the IV out. OH MY.. she gulped that stuff down. TOO FUNNY.
Lyndsee couldn’t figure out what was going on with her sister so she wanted in bed with her. I put Lyndsee in the bed with her and she just leaped for Madisyn and gave her a hug. It was priceless and I wish I had my camera with me. They cuddled up to each other and watched Barney on tv.
They finally came and took out her IV and Madisyn was so happy after that. Then they took her a ride down in a wagon and she was smiling ear to ear.
So overall it wasn’t too bad of an experience. Just wish I could have went to recovery with her and I don’t think she would have got so worked up. I kept apologizing to her and saying Mommy Loves you so much we just have to find out answers about your head. She said ok mommy can we just please go to Wal-Mart now. LOL. I had told her after she got done with the MRI today she could go pick out a toy ;). She didn’t forget that. So off we went to get a toy and to Wendy’s.
The drs said we should hear something back either Thursday or Friday about the results. I hate the waiting game but trying to stay positive that everything is going to be ok.
