5 Year Old Has The Best Advice

Gas prices… what did those two words just do to your mood?

Yes I know… my mood does the exact same thing.

We were all out on the front porch tonight taking in the cool mountain breezes when the topic of gas came up. Hubbs and I were conversing back and forth and you can tell we were in a heated conversation.

Madisyn pipes up and lifts her hands in the air. She says mom and dad, let’s just take in the cool air and calm down.

You better believe that hubbs and I shut up right quick and realized just what came out of our 5 year olds mouth. We all should just take in this beautiful natural air and be calm every once in a while. Like Jesus says… “Out of the mouth of babes”

Beautiful Nature Being Born Right Before Our Eyes

What a fun evening we had right here on our front porch! For the past week, we have been waiting for the eggs to hatch. They finally did TODAY.

You see the bird decided to make nest right in one of my mom’s welcome home signs hahaha. Everytime I would walk out on the porch the mommy bird would dart out right in front of me. Scared me every time.

She would usually sit atop the roof and wait for the path to clear and then finally fly into the nest.

The girls were so amazed and intrigued by the little birdies birth. We really had a neat experience talking them through of what they just witnessed. It seemed like every 5 or 10 minutes they wanted to check in on how they were doing. The mommy bird would keep going to get food and bringing it back to the 5 babies and the girls would just crack up when the bird would drop the food into the birdies mouths.

Makes you appreciate nature even more!

I Am Hugging My Girls Even Tighter

Thursday morning when I was making my rounds on CNN to read the latest news as I do, my eyes bugged out and I was hoping I was reading wrong.

Steven Curtis Chapman’s little daughter had passed away in a tragic accident. Ever since my youth group days at church I have loved loved loved his music and always knew how much of a family man he was. He loved his children so much and you could always tell that.

Just watching this video blog of Steven and Maria just shows you the bond he had with his children.

Madisyn my oldest daughter who is also five and I watched this about 3 times together. I was holding her so tight and kept telling her you know mommy loves you so much Madisyn. I just didn’t want to let her go. You just never know from day to day…..I do know, I hope this brings even more awareness that all vehicles need back up sensors so much.

RIP Maria… I know you are flying high with the angels!!!

Mommy Discovering a Whole Other Culture

We got a surprise call Friday evening and it has kept us busy since and now we have a feeling of sadness since our surprise is gone.

I have been missing in action from the internet world, but my wheels in my brain were just a turning with learning and excitement.

You see my aunt from the Philippines came over to meet us all for the first time. I fell in love with her instantly and we formed a really huge bond while she was here. We would stay up late talking about all the different cultural changes and how life is so different. It really got me thinking that America is one big spoiled country and what all we take for granted.

It’s no wonder how we live over here that we have so many medical problems. She was amazed that I had been wearing glasses since the age of 14. Just small things like that… I don’t even think about. But my uncle said it best when he mentioned… over there medical insurance is a huge luxury, so they live their lives all around being healthy and doing the best things for their body so they will not have to depend on medical insurance so much.

The cooking… oh the cooking. They cook everything from scratch for every meal she said and we were so delighted for her to cook for us. It was amazing and needless to say all the food was ate and I will be doing more of the cooking she did for us. I told her the next time she is over we would have an American Meal of turkey and ham and the fixins… Hope she likes it hahaha.

Then Estela starts working her magic with the food. The whole house immediately smelled like a wonderful chef kitchen. We would all just delight in all the different scents from the food.

We were all sure itching to get our tastebuds around all of this food. You could hear all of us just chomping at the bits when she placed the food on the table.

Madisyn and Lyndsee ate everything on their plates and asked for MORE! They were in love just as all us adults were in love eating. Every bite I took… I kept thinking ok how can I make all this food last longer hehe?

It was such a fun time all around and Estela’s cultural is all about family time and that is the same way I feel. Family comes first to me and my girls are indeed my life. Estela had the same love for my girls as well and it just warmed my heart.

You can tell by our smiles of how much we bonded together too.

We shed some tears yesterday when she left but we made sure we have each other’s cell numbers and emails so we can communicate very often. I already miss her love, joy, learning experiences from her culture so much.

It was a very wonderful weekend and a surprise I enjoyed so much as all the family did.

Poopy Heads and Tooth Fairies Oh MY

What a journey motherhood can be! I know being a mother is one of the greatest accomplishments I will ever do in my lifetime and one of the reasons is because of what my daughter’s say day to day. They know how to make me laugh out loud so hard or even just put a smile on my face for the day.

We went on a 2 mile walk the other day and up and down the road they were yelling poopy heads mommy, look mommy more poopy heads… wow mommy there are poopy heads everywhere. Here mommy you blow this poopy head and make a wish. I mean they were so darn excited about all these poopy heads. I’ll have to admit at first I was like what the heck are you calling poopy heads. Madisyn my oldest was quick to the draw to let me know, MOM these are poopy heads you know. Like DUH MOM!

I couldn’t stop laughing at first… and then I said Madisyn were did you hear them called poopy heads. She said you know mom that is what they called them on Noggin. So I’m not too sure why they were calling them that, but rest assured everywhere we go now, the girls are looking for poopy heads to blow.

I remember doing this as a young girl too and thought it was the best time, I am so glad the girls are having fun in our beautiful nature surroundings as well.

Then that night Lyndsee thought she would leave something special for the tooth fairy. You may say but she is only 3, she is too young to lose a tooth. Well you are exactly right. Let’s just say Lyndsee has been exploring lately in her nose. Yes sigh!

She pulled a critter LOL out of her nose and informed me.. Mom my nose is coming out. I said its ok honey… we’ll just go wash your hands. Then she said No mommy, we have to leave it right here above our bed so the tooth fairy will come get it tonight. HAHAHAHA. She was soooo serious too, so I knew I couldn’t laugh or she would get her feelings hurt. I did laugh inside though.
