Is Flu A New Annual Tradition
This is too ironic. As we sat in the ER yesterday, I was trying to think back to last year when we all had the Flu. I knew it had to be around the same time. I came home yesterday evening and looked at my blog posts from last year and this post and this post left me saying REALLY? My my… we had the flu on the same exact date and went to the ER the same day. I’m surprised the ER didn’t mention it as well.
Honestly, I breathed a sigh of relief when he came in and said it was the flu. L had me beyond scared. She went from bad to worse in like a 10 minutes time frame. Just continuously vomiting and running a really high fever, eyes rolling and kept saying everything hurt. After the flu test and some blood work, the dr came in turned the TV off and was all serious like. He said I have some news. Yes, my heart just dropped. Then he said “She has tested positive for Influenza A” I actually breathed a sigh of relief. We can deal with the flu. Also, L is so easy to bounce back from everything. I learn from her everyday. She has been through so much, yet she is the fastest kid I have ever seen to bounce back and doing her crazy faces to make you smile. That’s my girl :).
We will get through it and I thank all my family and friends for your prayers. God is sooooo good isn’t he? :).
Tonight, I make my big debut with the gameshow. I will report back to you that I won tonight haha. ;).
Bringing In The New Year with Pneumonia
I just wanted to post a quick update. M and I had walking pneumonia which we are pretty much over with thanks to wonderful medicine. Unfortunately L got it Monday night when I was so hoping she wouldn’t.
Ever since she got RSV at 2.5 months old, it really did a lot of damage to her lungs and she just cannot fight things off well. We took her in Tuesday and they started her on medicine and breathing treatments ever 4 to 6 hours.
We took her back in today because we noticed her cough was not getting any better and she was really pale. When we got there her oxygen level was only 89 but by the time we left it was 95. They have put her on a new steroid that will go in her breathing machine and a new medicine, on top of her breathing treatments every 4 to 6 hours. They believe now, it has worked itself into full blow pneumonia :(. Just say a prayer for her that we can get this under control here at home and she will not have to be sent to the hospital. I have faith :).
Believe me, I have lots to share with you all of changes we are going through so stay tuned. 2009 WILL BE A GREAT YEAR despite the sickies!
Take A Walk Along A Christmas Journey
Have I mentioned lately, how this is my favorite time of year? Oh I just love it. It was so hard to get in the Christmas spirit in Florida last year, so you know we are really loving it this year.
First off… we had our small town Christmas Tree lighting. It was so glorious and soooo packed. We live in a Resort town where a lot of tourists visit and especially this time of year with all the ski slopes here. So needless to say it was packed at the lighting show. We saw so many tags from Florida and Georgia… so funny. We snapped a couple picts in front of the infamous Christmas tree.
Once the girls had played their hearts out, and we had enough of hot chocolate and hot cider… we decided we better head home to get the girls in bed. It was a big day the next day you know ;). M was in her very first Christmas parade. She was beyond excited… she was over the moon. I am not going to lie, the tears were flowing when I seen her go by up in the parade up on her float. I cannot believe she looked so grown up. Gosh I love her so much and seeing her blow kisses to me from the float just made my heart melt all over. Here are a couple picts from the parade and a short video of her.
We chilled out at home afterwards as the sleet started coming down. I fixed a big crockpot full of homemade chili and it was just sure bliss the rest of the night enjoying family time.
Once we got up this morning after a good night’s rest… it was still freezing rain so I decided it was Christmas craft time. The girls really enjoy doing crafts and I just love the interaction we have together while doing the crafts. We worked on some big red bells made out of cups, Christmas wreaths, Christmas ornaments and snowflakes. These ideas just come off the top of my head this morning in a split second, but I really think they had a great time.
They all turned out so good and definitely will be up as our Christmas decorations each and every year. I want my girls to remember these traditions, as I don’t have anything from when I was a child. Makes me sad, so I am making it up with my girls in hopes they will pass it on down to their children as well.
Merry Christmas everyone :)… December is here. Can you believe it?
Welcome To Snowy Mountain
Let’s take a journey over to snowy mountain. I promise it is loads of fun 🙂 We have had 3 snow storms in a week and expecting another one tomorrow night. Pretty please old man winter hold off until M’s Thanksgiving program at school.
So I am going to entertain you with a couple of sledding pictures. Yes, ole Jen decided to get on a sled and have loads of fun with her girls during the snow day M was having. I will NOT show you the pictures of me tumbling off of the sled and down into the embankment haha.
Look at our driveway:
Oh let’s go ahead and give it a try:
Ok, we are down M. Will you promise to stop us if we get to going too fast?
Phew that’s enough for this mom. M was ready to go full blast and the faster she could go was the better.
We top the sledding fun off with cups of hot chocolate. Ahhh this is life in the winter and I would not want it any other way 🙂
