Three Year Old With Some Attitude

Oh… Oh… Oh…. Look at that smile. Doesn’t it read all over that I have my mommy and daddy wrapped around my finger.

I will admit she is our little comedian around here and is always making us laugh. Last night was well laughing and thinking oh my gosh where did she get this attitude from hehe.

We were at walgreens and it was time to load back in our van and she decided she was going to do a little dance and not get in her car seat. Daddy said firmly, Lyndsee get in your car seat now. She replied with “Daddy do not use that voice with me, that hurts my feelings”

Hubbs and I both looked at each other in amazement and started laughing at the same time to where she couldn’t see us though. She did get in her car seat after a little talk!

Then while we were driving down the road, we had to stop at the bank. She proceeded to say to us: The bank is boring times, I would rather be checking the mail! What the heck… where did she come up with that now LOL. We were laughing and she yelled out.. Yeehawwww… Ride em cowboy and started swinging her arms.

That’s our little three year old with some spunk HA!

Is This Really Florida

The temps were 39 degrees a couple mornings when we woke up this week…. I had to scratch my head and think, did I fly to NC in my sleep?

Very unusual, but how am I suppose to tell the girls it is too cold in April to go outside and play when it has been in the 80s and close to 90? Hmmm well lets bring out the winter clothes and go have a blast in the good ole game of baseball.

We had a really good time and it was actually a good break from playing outside in the heat. Also it’s always good when you can save your energy and electric bill of not having to run the wonderful AC. While we are on the topic of Florida…I thought I would take this time and blog about something that has been happening since we moved down here 10 months ago.

Everywhere we go… I get asked: Where are you from? Because we know you are not from here. Well… no I am not. I am from NC. Oh we can tell they always say! Today when we were in the grocery store, I was in the check-out line. The cashier said while laughing, where are you from? I said I am from NC. She said oh I just knew it. Then she had everybody coming over listen at how she talks.. she is from NC. Ok…..hmmm LOL!I get on the cellphone when I come out of the store and call my husband. Hun… do I really stand out of the crowd down here by the way I talk. He said yes dear you sure do! Oh geez thanks. This is coming from the New Yorker himself.

The Case Of The Missing Spoons

So the man and I have been noticing our spoons are disappearing out of thin air in the last month or so. We are getting down to just a few spoons in our silverware drawer.

We are thinking… ok the dishwasher is eating the spoons?

There is a ghost that is attracted to spoons?

The spoon fairy is attracted to our spoons?

Then all of a sudden the man walks into the kitchen at the same time lil sis is throwing away her yogurt cup and taaaa daaaa… case is solved. Lis sis is throwing her spoons away with her yogurt cups.

Phew glad we got this settled. But….. lis sis says that we do not suppose to keep the spoons because “they are dirty” Duh mom and dad hehe!

Co-Sleeping is One of the Loves of My Life

You know, I was quite young when I had my first daughter. 21 matter of factly, and I had never heard of the terms Attachment Parenting. All I knew is everyone was offering me books to read on how I should parent. Needless to say those books never got read and sat in a stack in my bedroom corner collecting dust bunnies.

The man and I had fun decorating the nursery and putting the crib together. I just couldn’t wait to bring her home and let her enjoy the nursery that we had spent to much time in. Well… the time comes to bring my first born daughter home and you couldn’t take her from my arms. I thought now what human being would allow their baby to sleep in the dark night all alone in an room. Heck no… not me. No way and no how. Which confused me, because I had none of those feelings before bringing her home.

Needless to say, Madisyn never once saw her nursery. I am such a worry wart mom anyways, and you can believe that I would just lay awake and putting my hand on her chest to make sure she was breathing or put my hand under her nose to see if I could feel her breathing. We nursed as well so I was scared to death to nurse her and fall asleep so I made sure I was up sitting up in the bed with the boppy pillow at night nursing.

Well this went on for about 6 months and I finally brought her crib into my bedroom and took the front off and started side carring up against our bed. I learned real quick that I could just lay down and nurse her and fall back to sleep. I was finally getting into a routine, but you know what… I would pretty much end up in the side car crib with her because I couldn’t stand her not being right at my side.

We continued like this for a long time and when she was 21 months old, I had my second daughter. I thought this will be interesting. So we purchased Madisyn a princess doll house bed for her to sleep in beside us. I was all gung ho about that and yea ok… Madisyn never slept a night in that bed either when we brought new baby Lyndsee home. We just all got into bed as one happy family and Madisyn would not go to sleep at night unless she knew her little baby sister was right there in bed with her. We never had one problem and I know I got more sleep because of the co-sleeping.

Fast forward almost 6 years now and we are still a full co-sleeping family with my 5.5 year old and 3.5 year old. I just can’t even imagine them sleeping in their rooms all alone without me. All the worries go through my mind… what if Lyndsee has an asthma attack and I don’t hear her, or what if someone comes in the window or something… all the what ifs just drive me crazy and I would never get a good night’s sleep. So for now and until they are older… we will be one big happily co-sleeping family. I wouldn’t have it any other way either 🙂

We do have a particular way that we have to sleep, Lyndsee HAS to be beside me so she can have my hair as well as her lovey, and then Madisyn is beside Lyndsee. Some nights Madisyn will get beside me when Lyndsee goes to sleep first and its so funny because Lyndsee will wake up and high tail it between Madisyn and I so she can make sure Madisyn is not taking her space.

I do want to say, I am in no way saying its wrong if you do NOT cosleep with your children, but I just wanted to share our journey and what I feel is best for us!

Month of Love – Girls Melt My Heart

Today I went to pick up Madisyn from school and noticed they had did a paper on If they were queen for the day, what would they do?

Madisyn's response was: I would want to dance with my dad.

Is that not the sweetest. I know the girls love them some daddy. I do love the relationship they share with each other.

Then while Madisyn was at school,

Lyndsee said mommy: Knock Knock

I said: Who's There?

Lyndsee: Apples

I said: Apples who?

Lyndsee: Apples and Oranges mommy and busted out laughing.

I couldn't help but laugh too. We were both cracking up. She just thought she had done told the funniest joke.
