An Energy Drink that is healthy for YOU! – {Giveaway}

V8 has come out with a new Energy Drink – V8 V-Fusion Sparkling.

The great thing about these drinks are that they are made with 1/4 vegetables and 1/4 fruits. So many energy drinks are filled with non-healthy ingredients. There are no worries about this drink as they do not have the unhealthy ingredients.

There are only 60 calories in each 8-ounce can. The sugars in each can equal between 11 – 13 grams. The good thing about the sugars though… all the sugars are straight from the fruit included in the drink. There is no added sugar, artificial colors or preservatives. This is what I am talking about now!

I first tried these drinks at the Blissdom Conference in February of this year. I could not believe the taste. I had to get my friends at the conference to taste their drinks and actually talked them into giving me their extra drink. Seriously, the drinks are that good!

My precious M wanted to do a taste test and much to my surprise, she really enjoyed the drink as well. M and L are not real big vegetable fans, so this helps them get in the extra vegetables and fruit in their daily diet.

I love the fizz from soft drinks, but of course do not drink them often because of the calories and sweetners. This is a great alternative with just enough fizz, great taste and ingredients that you do not have to be shameful about.

Treat it Forward with Wendy’s this Father’s Day – {Giveaway}

As you know, this Sunday is Father’s Day! Though you may still be searching for that perfect gift for dad, Wendy’s has something that you can all do together to help other families! And it’s yummy, too! We did this last year as a family and had the best time sitting together eating our Frosty’s and laughing together at special memories we were reminiscing over the last year. Now through Father’s Day, anyone can help children in foster care find permanent, loving homes. Continuing its Father’s Day Frosty Weekend tradition for the sixth year in a row, Wendy’s is inviting customers to help raise money for Wendy’s Wonderful Kids.

This signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is dedicated to finding permanent adoptive families for children in foster care. Here’s what you need to know:

What: Help Wendy’s make a big donation to Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption that is dedicated to finding permanent adoptive families for children in foster care. They want to beat last year’s $1.4 million donation! Let’s help them get there!

When: Father’s Day Weekend (June 16 – 17)

How: There are three ways to donate:

1. Buy any Frosty product: On Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17, for each Frosty product purchased, participating Wendy’s will donate 50-cents to Wendy’s Wonderful Kids. (includes the original, parfaits, shakes and floats).

Come Build With Lego This Month at Myrtle Beach

Everyone loves LEGO’s right? It was such a fun treat growing up to play with LEGO’s. My girls started loving LEGO’s as toddlers with the bigger LEGO’s. Now, they have downsized to the little ones. Every time we visit Downtown Disney, they have to go into the LEGO store and just love seeing all the models made out of LEGO’s.

Guess what? You will get this opportunity as well in Myrtle Beach for FREE. The LEGO Summer Brickation will showcase the best of what the LEGO group has to offer. It will enable children and adults to benefit from a fun, hands-on experience of building and creating LEGO bricks and products. Different activity areas will be featured, providing families enjoyment in everything from building, games and challenges, to photo opportunities with life size LEGO models.

The exhibit will be open from now until July 17 near the Boardwalk Winery and Margaritaville at Broadway at the Beach. It will be open daily to public and remember it is free of charge. It doesn’t get much better than free right?

Lower your grocery bill with Food Lion + Giveaway!

We live by our budget each month. I check into our software daily to ensure we are not going over budget. Each week, I have a limit of $75 for our weekly groceries. Due to several factors in the economy, food prices are increasing at an alarming rate. We have to use coupons and purchase generic items in order to stay within our budget each week. I sit and do a weekly meal plan all the while ensuring we are staying away from high fructose corn syrup products. Is it easy? No, but it is definitely doable.

Thank goodness, Food Lion is helping us stay within our weekly budget. I have been a loyal Food Lion customer since I was a small child and would go shopping with my mom. Food Lion was also my first job. I was a cashier and got moved to Office Assistant very quickly during my high school days. So, naturally, I am going to give props since we go way back. It helps though with all the recent changes that Food Lion has went through in their stores.

Food Lion has lowered their prices all throughout their store. They have also added several food items under the brand name “My Essentials”

The My Essentials brand can be found on just about every food product that you can think of on the grocery shelves.

You may think since it is a generic brand, that the taste would be less than thrilling. This is actually the opposite. If you put the generic brand beside a regular brand, you would have a hard time telling the difference. My girls or hubby has yet to say a word about the food tasting different. I purchased all of the My Essentials items below this past week and none of the products have high fructose corn syrup. Huge score since you are receiving a healthier item minus the increased price.

Food Lion gave me a $150 gift card to do my shopping. I came out of the store with a total of $158 spent. The grocery trip fulfilled all our grocery needs for the next two weeks. I was one happy mom!

Overall, I am a very pleased customer. It did take me a while to shop because I was looking for the high fructose corn syrup in every product but I was able to come away with several My Essential items, several quality meats and lots of fresh produce. Take your time, remember your budget and keep your meal plan in your hand. You can shop for less at Food Lion.

When I came home from shopping, I actually whipped up an easy recipe for my Mom’s birthday using two items from the My Essentials brand. Check out this easy German Chocolate cake that is so moist. It got raving reviews from everyone at the party.

I didn’t have to compromise my style with the dispenser. This made for a very happy mom. As I had that extra bounce in my step, my husband just looked at me. He said: “So, is it the smell or the decor that has made you so happy?” — HA! The sun was shining in the windows, the candle was burning, and I was in full spring cleaning mode. I am not the only one that gets in these modes, right?
