Day in the Life

This is Attachment Parenting month. You know when I had my first daughter M, I never even heard of this term. It wasn’t until I was looking at mom groups online, that I ran across this term. I read it and my mouth just dropped open. It described my parenting style to a TEE. Here I just thought, I was just doing what was natural to me and never knew it was a specific parenting style.

I always listen to my daughters’ and follow their lead. Especially as newborns, I absolutely did not and still do not let them cry. Crying It Out term just brings me to tears :(. I don’t believe kids should be left in swings, exersaucers or any other baby equipment long periods of times either. Yes it is fine to do 10 to 15 minute increments throughout the day, but not prolonged. I always liked to rotate and do various activites throughout the day, but I was always there with them and not just plopping them down to fend for themselves. I take being a mother very serious :). I wore (babywearing) my girls A LOT as well. Heck I still carry my 4 year old A LOT. It worked for us and we loved to always be attached. Plus it helped me get things done throughout the day such as laundry, cooking, cleaning etc. They are only babies once… we have to cherish that time. They will grow up to be independent in their older teen years… these early years we are laying the foundation for them.

Needless to say, we never used a crib either. We have co-slept since day one and still going strong as M and L are 4 and almost 6. I have no plans in stopping either soon. I will follow their lead once again. I get a lot of heat from family and friends, but guess what… I could care less ;). This is my parenting style and it is what works best for us. I could never imagine not reading my children’s cues so closely and just ignoring them such as leaving them in a crib to cry….

I feel like my girls and I are really close and I often wonder if my parents were into attachment parenting back so many years ago if I would have a closer relationship with them. I still teach my girls to be strong, but we do it our own way. The teachers at school say M loves to mother the other kids, and that just brings the biggest smile to my face. I feel like I had a part in that 🙂

I know this post is all over the place, but attachment parenting is very dear to my heart. I am so glad the good Lord up above blessed me with my two wonderful girls and has led me into the path of attachment parenting. Like I said, its all natural to me and I just was doing what felt “real” to me. I hope I am setting great examples for my girls and I just know they will be attachment mothers as well!

So the last two weeks have been such a roller coaster literally. Hold onto your seat and do not let go… lets go through the journey of life to get caught up.

As you know last week I had my gallbladder surgery. That Monday I would say was the worst. When I came out of surgery, I couldn’t catch a breath for anything so they put me on oxygen and I kept vomiting up this yellow stuff they said was bile. It just kept coming up and I was like geeeez…. dr said well hope you know you can’t go home you will have to stay in the hospital. I so did not want that because of the girls. Madisyn walked in from school right when all this was going on and she just hit to her knees and started crying so hard and saying mommy mommy mommy. I felt so bad for her :(. I hated she had to see all of that.

I was pretty much out of it the rest of the evening and night with all the medicine they gave me. By Tuesday, I was feeling pretty good and ready to get out of there. The gas was what was the worst. You know the gas they blow your belly up with to do the surgery. So as soon as I got home I was up walking everywhere and up and down the road trying to get all that gas out of my shoulder. Hubbs did so good with the girls all by himself. I was super proud of him.

I made mistake and ate a piece of pizza last Friday… yea that wasn’t good HA. Dr said it will take time to get the body adjusted… so just laying light on all foods right now.

I went back for my check-up today and one of my incisions was infected and we talked about this heartburn/reflux I was having. Also a pain that I was having in my tummy. Come to find out, I have gastritis. Dr said sometimes after a gallbladder surgery, the patient can develop this. :(. I was so hoping to just glide through this. He has put me on a 8 week treatment plan that he thinks will take care of it and heal me. If it does not, then they will do another surgery and go down with a light. I know without a doubt God, will let the 8 week plan to heal me for good!!

Through all of this, we have moved as well :(. Since hubbs was put out on medical leave for his job due to complications from his accident in August, we realized we better move back in with my parents to get a savings built back up. It was so hard doing this, but I know we will better off and I’m thankful my parents opened up their full basement for us.

Sooooo the last few days, have been moving, cleaning, moving, cleaning and did I mention moving? Also we can’t forget to throw in Madisyn’s soccer games, soccer practices and clogging lessons – Lyndsee’s dr appointments. This fall weather is kicking her butt with her asthma. Say a prayer she can get back on the mend.

Sometimes I feel really high and waving my arms with YIPPPEEEE on that roller coaster and then I can feel myself really low and folding my arms in pity. It’s ok  though… I know God is guiding me through every step and he is with me all the way. He has a plan for us and we are just following his will :).

I’m still here and breathing…With the pain, it has been hard for me to come up with my witty words for you ;).

I am set to have gallbladder surgery Monday though, so hopefully this pain will be laid to rest and Jen’s humor will be back in full force.

I have to go in for a test tomorrow called the Hida Scan, but after I get done with that… I want to share some pictures with you of my big girl playing in her first soccer game. She rocked house 🙂
