Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at DPAC

We are kicking off the Christmas season and what better way than by going to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. This performance was the first-time EVER in Durham, NC at DPAC.

The entire crew was stoked for the show to start. Before the show, we had a surprise. Snow began falling outside and the Rockettes made their entrance solider style with a surprise guest – SANTA! Each Rockette put a teddy bear into a box that will go to Toys for Tots. What a wonderful way to kick-off the Christmas Spectacular.

With smiles on our faces and our hearts filled with Christmas cheer, we made our way to our orchestra seats. We had to make a stop for some very delicious gelato. You will have many choices to choose from if you are up for a snack from Starbucks coffee to very delicious cupcakes.

As we took our seats which the whole theater had amazing seats with great views, we did not quite know what treat we were in for! The sounds and sights began to take over the theater.

Each scene was mesmerizing. The choreography, the music, the dancers were all out of this world entertainment. My girls take clogging and tap. Their eyes were fixated onto the stage and they did not move.

We have always wanted to visit NYC during Christmas, so it was very thrilling to see the Rockettes take us on a tour through the city with their dance numbers.

The domino effect of the toy soldiers really caught our attention. We were in awe.

As we thought the show could not get any better, the Christmas story was told and a live nativity scene was brought right before us on stage. I have never seen a live nativity scene like this before. I was amazed as my family was too. Beautiful, remarkable, and awesome performing made this scene bring tears of happiness to my eyes. This is what Christmas is all about.

My husband, daughters and I both said, hands down best theatrical performance we have ever seen. The money and time is well worth spent and will create family memories of a lifetime.

11-11-11 A day to be thankful for our Veterans through song

I am blessed and thankful to live in a land of free. We would not be able to have this freedom if it wasn’t for our wonderful military. They put their lives on the line every single day for us. What a remarkable thing to do for your country. It reminds me of Jesus giving his life for our sins. We are truly blessed indeed!

My girls celebrate each year at their school with a Veterans Day parade. Yesterday, they dressed up in red, white and blue to be festive in the celebrations. I look at this picture and so blown away by how beautiful my girls are. Again, feeling so blessed.

I had to go back and look in the archives and see this video of M doing a song for all the Veterans when she was 6 years old. It is too precious not to share again.

I miss writing… Where did Jen go?

I cannot believe I have not wrote one post this week. Blogging is my down time at night where I get to express my thoughts while the house is all quiet. It helps get all my thoughts out before I go to bed and I can sleep with a clear mind.

The stomach woes have plagued me once again. This is becoming a pattern and one I hope to break for good. I have way too much to do in life to have to sit back and worry about stomach woes.

I ended up back at the doctor’s office Monday afternoon after the urging of my husband. I dislike going to doctor’s office and will put it off for as long as I can. This time, I am glad I did go back in. My lipase levels are elevated meaning my pancreas is having a terrible party in my stomach. This has been going on for a year and a half now.

I feel like after meeting with a new gastro doctor yesterday, I have a positive outlook that I can put these stomach woes behind me. I am scheduled for a MRCP to see what continues to set off my pancreas. For some reason, it is disgruntled but we cannot figure out why. Every once in a while his attitude is in check and he backs away but only comes back with a more fierce evil attitude. Hope to get answers, hope to have my energy back and I hope to be able to eat again. 3 days without solid foods will give you a whole new outlook on food.

Thank you all to my readers for sticking by my side. We have the holidays to celebrate, no time for this silly sickness right?

Help kids all around the world have a Christmas

It is that time of year. It is Operation Christmas Child time!

One of the new and upcoming artists that is not afraid to show his faith is helping pass the word this year about Operation Christmas Child. Please take a couple minutes and see Scotty McCreery showing how to pack shoe boxes.

As I wrote last year, I have been participating in Operation Christmas Child since I was in high school. I have always said, I can only imagine the kids reactions when they open up these boxes each year. A child may not get any other gift all year long except from this blessed shoe box filled with many gifts and even the gift of the gospel. How can we not participate? Check out the video I did last year with our shopping journey. As you will see it is not hard at all to shop for these wonderful and sweet children.

Do you have a hobby?

Art has always been a passion of mine. I was always doodling as a little girl and my girls are now doing the same thing. I am not that great of an artist on paper, but I do like to get creative and let my mind flow. Over the years, I have enjoyed doing art on the computer and in photoshop, but it was not the art that was fulfilling. Enter photography, over the years I have had several different cameras and always upgrading to the next level. I recently purchased my first DSLR and have been enjoying getting lost in time and snapping away God’s greatest gifts.

God has produced a beautiful Earth that we live on and with the technology world, not as many get out in the great outdoors and enjoy it. I do and I enjoy capturing those special moments. Here are a few of my recent photographs that just make me so happy. I am sharing in hopes they will bring a smile to your day as well.

Photography is such a beautiful art and lets me escape from all the hustle and bustle. What is your hobby?
