September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. My heart just aches for all the families that are/have been effected by this awful disease – cancer. As moms, we hate to see our kids in pain and when they are, the momma bear comes out in us because we want to protect our kids.
On September 21 at Union Station in Washington DC, 46 mothers from around the country will gather to shave their heads in solidarity with their children who have fought or are currently fighting cancer. These 46 women call themselves the “46 Mommas.”
A group of 46 mothers did this last year a year ago yesterday in Los Angeles as well. Here is a recap.
46 Mommas is joining in together with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, in supporting the Foundation’s mission to “Conquer Kids’ Cancer!” The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers. The mommas have set a goal of $500,000 to raise for St. Baldrick’s Foundation and are half-way there. We can help them surpass their goal, even if all the moms here in NC just donated $1.
My heart goes out to all the families and what a wonderful event that you are doing in your kid’s honor. BIG KUDOS!
