As we were on the fast pace interstate Saturday night, making our way home from a much well deserved family time at the movies, a thought crossed my mind. What is family? I sat there in the passenger’s seat and dwelled on that very question for a few moments and then I just spouted off the question to my husband.
Exactly, what is family in today’s world? I come from a very close knit family who is in contact almost daily either by email or telephone. I have hour long phone calls with my aunt almost two times a week. But, I don’t seem to be in the norm here?
Family is such an important factor in my life and my husband and I stress that a lot to our girls. The girls know they are loved so much and that is what really matters right?
Lots of snuggles, lots of hugs, lots of high fives, and lots of thumbs up will always be around this family. The most important thing is that the girls know what our little family of four is about. We take time to stop the hectic busy schedules and get on the girls level to understand and listen carefully to what they have to say everyday.
I love you are three words that are said multiple times a day in this household. That is what is family. Love that is infinity, that is what is family. Not just talking to someone when you want something, or them to do you a favor.. that is not family.
This is my family and I could not be happier.
Take the time to reach out today and tell your family you love them. Give them that unexpected hug, phone call or email. It will make you smile and them too.
