Day 8 Thankfulness for a Job

I am truly thankful for my job.

These times in the economy, I think everyone that has a job can get on their knees and show how thankful they are. I will gladly stand-up and show how thankful I am for my job. As many know, I have worked at home since M was born almost 7 years ago now. I did not return after my maternity leave with her as I just could not leave her. I always have worked full-time during the whole process except last year. I had took time to take a step back since it was a rough beginning of 2008 for us. That is the year I made 6 trips back and forth to Florida with the girls and there was just no way to keep down a full-time job. Well the tables turned upside down, due to heart complications of my husband he was in a terrible car accident. This put him out of work on medical leave in which meant no money until insurance claim came to fruit which took 3.5 months. In the mean time, I new I needed to do something. I needed to take my part-time wages and up them to get our family to survive.

I sent out resume after resume and I finally got the call I had been really wanting. I went through 3 interviews and landed the job. It could have not came at a better time, because we were really hurting financially. We were having to live in my parent’s basement and had no idea how we were going to get Christmas for the girls. God showed us, that we did not need to worry. He had a path for me and I just know that is why he gave me this job opportunity. We ended up having a very Merry Christmas :).

It is coming up on a year with my job, and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. All my co-workers are true gems and are so supportive. It’s been an awesome ride and I’m so excited to see what Year 2 has in store.

My husband is still unemployed so I am now the breadwinner in the family, so that is just another plus to having a job I adore and can support my family with!

Day 6 of Thankfulness

Today I am so thankful for weekends. We are always so busy during the week with school, work, church and extracurricular activities that there is not much time for down time. Weekends we all sit down and talk about the week and always go on a little adventure with the girls. We are not much of staying home, so it just gives us the chance to get out as a family and have some reconnection time from the hectic week.

One thing on the weekends, I really look forward to is Sunday lunch. Each week my mom and I take turns cooking Sunday lunch after church. I so enjoy getting the whole extended family getting together and now that it is fall, we all sit down and watch football after lunch. You can hear screaming, “its good”, or just some plain cheering from us all. It is funny to watch us all get into the games so much!

I have always said why can’t weekends be 5 days and weekdays be 2 days haha. Thank you Lord for giving us weekends that we can make special memories with our families!

Day 5 Thankful for Daughters

I always wanted to be a mommy growing up. It is something I dreamed of so much as a little girl. Now, my dream has come true. I am a mommy to 2 beautiful girls M and L! I am so thankful for them and every night that I pray, I usually start my prayer out as Thank You Lord, for giving me my girls.

My girls mean so much to me. They have totally opposite personalities in which I love because it makes them both unique. M.. my oldest daughter is such an outgoing little girl. She has several friends at school and wherever we usually go in town… there is someone that is hollering out her name.

She has such a gentle soul and takes after her mommy that she just wants to make everyone happy. She is like this at school. Her teachers always says that M wants to be everyone’s best friend. She is always right there to help her fellow classmate or cheer them up. She never wants to see anyone sad. If she sees me crying, she will come up to me and just hug me so tight and try to do funny things to make me laugh. I just love her so much. She has a quirky side too and will surprise us with some of the things she comes up with.

She is very smart and is very outgoing. She always wants to be doing something. Also she loves Jesus :).

My other little girl is my darling L. She is so precious just like big sis. L definitely has a different personality. She is very shy and very reserved. She does not warm up to strangers much and loves to be right with her mommy. She is very attached to my hair and has to hold it while she is going to sleep every night. She does love to perform for us and do her little shows.

I just love her little sayings she is always coming up that just melts my heart all over. She is very gentle and doesn’t like to be over stimulated. She just loves to be close to home and around her close family and friends. She has a little best friend now and she loves to talk about her. She also loves to sing and talk about Jesus.

Girls I love you both so much and enjoy every single minute of every single day with you. I know mommy is protective of you and will not let you out of my sight, but just know mommy misses you when you are not with me that’s why :). I can’t wait to see the plan God has for you both and I know you will make mommy proud.

Day 4 Thankful For My Better Half

I am enjoying doing this each day. It really helps to sit back and think all about your life and how thankful for the many blessings I do have. You hear so much bad news all the time it seems, but if everyone would sit back and just take a few minutes to see the many blessings we do have to be thankful for, we would all be in a much better place.

Today I want to say how thankful I am of my husband Scott. We all know that unfortunately, I had been down the road of marriage before and it was just not meant to be. I was too young and didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t know about counseling or church guidance.. I just did the easy thing and walked away. Not my smartest move, but that is all behind us and the dear Lord had another plan for me. He brought my best friend into my life.

We have had one more journey but it is one journey that I do not regret. I love my husband and the times that we do have. Oh you better believe, we can have some major disagreements, but those are what makes us stronger. We are two totally opposites, but hey they always say opposites attract right? The last 8 years have been so much fun despite all that has been thrown to us. We each have leaned on each other to get through those times and climb the mountain to be able to scream at the top, we made it. We have made it and the Lord has guided us through each time.

You can see us one minute dancing in the house, one minute driving down the parkway to spot deer, one minute taking a last minute road trip, one minute in the floor playing games with our girls, one minute out in the yard trying to act like we are 10 again skipping, one minute blasting loud music, one minute discussing fox news, one minute trying to solve all our problems over Dr. Phil show, one minute moving, one minute hugging our girls and one minute sitting on the couch watching football!

There is never a dull moment, that’s for sure.

He makes life fun not only for me, but for our girls as well. I do have to give him props as well for stepping up and being the dad taxi. Since he has been out of work a year now, and I work and go to school, he picks the girls up from school, he takes them to sports practices, he takes them to dance lessons, he takes them to PTA school nights at our local Chick-Fil-A, he takes them on park dates with their friends and he takes them for daddy dates to our local ice cream parlor. He is such a hands on daddy and that is just one of the great features that I love about him! The girls absolutely adore their daddy too :).

Thank you Scott for being YOU. I know I am not the easiest person to put up with haha, but you do. I LOVE you and so looking forward to the path God is leading us on. It’s been such a fun ride and I am ready to take it to the next level :).

Thankful Day 3 Grandma Love

Today on this 3rd day of November, I am thankful for my 96 year old Grandmother. She is a true gem and an inspiration for us all. I always tell her, I am her baby since I am the youngest grandchild. We have 6 generations in our family, so she is a Great Great Great Grandmother. Now is that not amazing? She always has a smile on her face and is always wanting to do for you. Up until 4 weeks ago, she lived on her own. She fell unfortunately while my brothers were there visiting her. She made them promise that they would not dare tell anyone. They did call my dad and tell him, but made sure he didn’t call anyone else. We learned from that mistake, because it ended up being when she fell, she cracked her pelvis! She ended up in the hospital the next day :(. She was so sad, because she really enjoys her independence.

Now she has been in the rehab center 4 weeks and only has another 2 weeks until she can go back home. I went down and visited her today. Just look at this beautiful smile she was shining when we walked in. (Sorry about low quality of pictures, I took the pictures on my cell).

She was so excited to see us. Unfortunately, my girls could not go because they have a ban on children 18 years and younger due to the Swine Flu outbreak. She made sure she asked about them though and made sure I was to tell them how much she loved them. She is always like I said looking out for others. You cannot leave her house unless you eat something. You see, if you do not eat something she will let you know about it ;). I still love the moments she bakes me homemade banana bread and has it waiting for me when I come visit. I just treasure these moments. I can never imagine life without her. She is absolutely my hero in life. You see, after just 4 short weeks, she is up walking. Nothing will keep her down.

The nurses said she loves to walk everywhere and will not always take her walker with her. Everyone is trying to work on that with her, so she makes sure she doesn’t forget her walker. The nurses said she helped decorate for Halloween and was just enjoying every minute. As long as she is helping or doing something, Grandma will always be happy!

She has brought so much joy and blessings into my life. I love her so much and so happy my girls get the chance to experience her joy as well. We LOVE you Grandma and cannot wait till you get to come home!!!

I will leave you with one last picture that I took today of her playing Bingo. She said this helps her pass the time and she was really focusing on the game when we left.

There she is 96 years old young. Now that’s something to be really thankful for!
