Become an Artist in Raleigh NC

Have you ever wished you could produce a painting that will put the wow factor effect in everyone’s eyes? Your wish just came true. This cool and unique company in downtown Raleigh, will help you produce a painting that will have everyone talking.

I did just this thing last week. The venue is called Wine and Design. I have always enjoyed being creative but have always been shy about producing a painting. When I was approached about attending a night of painting fun, I was so giddy and nervous. Could I really paint something that would hang on my wall?

Of course, I could with the help of an artist. Wine and Design provides everything you need to do a painting. Apron, paint, 16 x 20 canvas, brushes, and an artist. The artist will walk you through step by step in the creation of the night.

My girls and hubby could not believe I did this painting. Friends it is seriously that easy! It is so much fun to do with a friend. My awesome friend from here in the Raleigh area Carolina Mama invited me to go with her and I am so ever thankful. I am itching to go back again.

It is only $35.00 to go for a night of painting. Like I said they provide it all and you can bring in your drink of choice such as wine or Starbucks (my preference) and just have a good time with music, friends and paint. I am wanting to go back and do a painting for my mom’s birthday 🙂

Huge Milestone With Santa

It has only took 6 years, but we finally met a huge milestone this past weekend with L. She sat on Santa’s lap for the first time without mommy, without crying and was actually very happy about it.

I was smiling ear to ear and clapping my hands for her. She has never wanted anything to do with Santa but something changed this year while we were at Great Wolf Lodge. She is the one that asked to go see Santa. I had to of course ask M what she told Santa that she wanted this year for Christmas.

I’m so tickled!

Christmas is such a magical time and just seeing L be so happy about seeing Santa was just music to this mommy’s ears.

Kaplan Tutoring Test Drive Update And Free Month

We are coming to the conclusion of the final test drive of the Kaplan Tutoring program. As you all know, for the last weeks, my girls have been participating in the Kaplan Tutoring program for their age group.

It has been an interesting past few weeks. The first few weeks, the girls would fight for computer time to get their tutoring in. It was great to know that their tutoring lessons were going right along with their course work at school. Each program would walk them through tutorial steps to see if they could master the skills. I feel like the animation really helps keep the tutoring exciting and more motivating. M which is in the 2nd grade continued to really love and enjoy the program but about 3/4 way through this test drive, L which is in Kindergarten was done. The program began getting boring for her and not motivating anymore. I would get on the program with her and encourage her to do more of the activities but after a bit, she was just not hearing it.

M though has thoroughly enjoyed the program and I can tell it has helped her achieve and master 2nd grade skills and move on to 3rd grade skills. That is what I love about the tutoring program is that it does not limit your child in their skill work, it encourages the child to continue the ladder of success.

The kindergarten program was repetitive and not as interactive as the 2nd grade program so that is why I feel L lost interest before her 8 weeks were up. I do recommend for the older grades as I seen great positives in M’s progress reports. Yes, that is another positive of the Kaplan Tutoring is you can login under the parent logins and get progress reports each week for the child. Also, it will show how many reward points your child is receiving for his/her great work. Each child can earn reward points to receive awesome awards such as tech gadgets. Pretty great incentives to keep the older children motivated.

First Snow of the Season

Who said you couldn’t have fun with just a little bit of snow? My girls proved that theory wrong this past weekend. We knew once we moved to Raleigh, that the snow would not be as much. Now, I am a HUGE snow lover so I do want snow but just not all winter. Hence the reason why I did not want to move to Florida again. Snow is so beautiful to look at and makes this time of year feel even more magical.

We only got about an inch last weekend but the girls darted right out when it started falling to have fun. I know I had a friend back in Boone say that even though they have got so much snow this past week, it has been way too cold for them to go out in and play. So, at least the girls did actually get to go play in the snow. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the girls enjoying the first snow of the season.
