Lunchables has been a household staple since I was a child living at home. Once I begin taking a healthier journey in life, I look at every label now before it goes in my childrens’ and my mouth. A couple years ago, the nutrition label on lunchables was very eye opening. Am I really giving my children that much sodium and fat in one meal sitting? We backed away from having it as a staple in our household for a while.
Then it was brought to my attention that Lunchables was working hard to create more healthier meals. Lunchables has improved their products by reducing overall sodium content, fat and calories by at least 20% throughout their product lines, and adding spring water and fruit to various lunches.
I sent the two different Lunchables in my girls lunch last week and did not even mention a word about it. I eagerly awaited that evening when I picked them up in the carpool line and my first question was: “How did you like your lunch today?” They said mom, you tricked us. I said no, I just wanted to get your reaction to see how you like the new meals that are out now. I received positive feedback on both of their reactions. L did not like the oranges but she is just not an orange fan. I was hoping though. M loved the entire meal. I do love they are adding water into the meals now as it cuts out a lot of the sugary juices that we are really trying to reduce in the girls day.
The new options that Lunchables has added to their more healthier lunch line are:
These meals are made with 100% white meat chicken, reduced-fat cheese and whole grain bread. Each of these meals come with DOLE Mandarin Oranges. A big plus for the environment is the lunchables have many recyclable parts, making them a more environmentally friendly option now.
I am proud of Lunchables for taking a stand to help provide more healthier items to our kids. Overall, the girls enjoyed the meals and wanted more the next day ;).
“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Lunchables and received the products necessary to facilitate my review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own true honest thoughts!”
