A Mother’s Day Tea That Left Me In Tears

The Friday before Mother’s Day, I was having lots of pain (it was just a few short hours after the Tea I was hospitalized) but I knew I had to put my big girl pants on and but that smile on for my oldest daughter M. She had talked about this day for weeks and there was no way I was missing it. She was so happy when I walked through those doors, her graceful walk come to meet me with a beautiful flower she had made.

I captured some artsy pictures and video to put together a little web show for you. I tried so hard to take a picture of the power point presentation that M helped put together, but once it showed mine and M’s picture, the tears would not stop flowing so I couldn’t capture a picture. I did put it together in Photoshop of what it looked like on screen.

Life Comes At You Fast

Have you see Jen?

Jen, we have looked high and low for you? Where did you go girlfriend? Did you leave country? Did you get lost on the Blue Ridge Parkway? Did you go into hiding? Did you change your identity?

:::Jen running::: “I’m here… I’m here… I’m here…”

I wish I could say that I was on this awesome adventure, but that isn’t just the case. I was actually hooked up to an IV here in the mountains at our local hospital for 7 long days. It was a scary time for sure and one that I didn’t see coming.

When I went into the ER a week and half ago now on that Friday, I had no idea that they would admit me for 7 days. I knew something was terribly wrong though with the pain I was experiencing and my stomach swelled up like a pregnant lady. My hubby was really worried as my legs were swelling really huge as well and with tears in his eyes, he did not leave my side until the DR came with a fast diagnosis. All the ER DR needed to do was take one look at me and say, I think this is your pancreas. After a quick job of giving blood, the ER DR was by my bedside to say that I was under a pancreatitis attack. My pancreas enzymes were over tripled than the number they were suppose to be.

The big question was though what was causing it? I don’t drink… I don’t smoke… and I already had my gallbladder out. After numerous tests and calling in specialists, they never figured out what caused it. All they could do was to keep me off of food for 6 days and on an IV drip to get my pancreas back to normal.

I’m not going to lie you all, I was scared. Very scared. I was in so much pain those first 4 days, that I did lots of crying. Wondering if I was going to live? Scared that I was going to be taken from my girls as their mother at a very young age? I will tell you now that if it wasn’t for my trust in the Good Lord and knowing my guardian angel Grandma was looking after me, I don’t know how I would have made it through those days.

Seeing my girls so sad that their mommy was in so much pain and couldn’t get out of the hospital bed or seeing L just cling to my bed each night she had to leave, it was killing me on the inside. Taking my heart and stomping it all over the ground. Seeing my hubby cry at my bedside, I never ever want to go through that again!

I am home now, trying to get back into a normal routine. The pain comes and goes but today has been a MUCH better today with hardly no pain at all. I am on the mend, I finally can say :).

I have to thank so many of you all for the wonderful tweets, video blog posts (I had to spend my birthday and Mother’s day in the hospital), beautiful facebook posts (most days people couldn’t even see updates on me due to all the wonderful prayers and wishes wrote), phone calls, visits, gift cards to take care of hubby and girls food, all the help with the girls and Prayers! It all got me through those 7 days that were my darkest point.

God healed me and for that, I am so thankful. God is good!

I am a fighter and so happy to be given the chance to heal and be back to write this blog post! Life is amazing for sure 🙂

Just Call Me Computer School Geek Diva

I did it. What did I do you say? I finished my year at college. As you may remember, I started back to college last fall. My grandma stayed on me for the last few years to go back and finish, she was my main motivator. I so kept seeing her face in my head of how she would be grinning from ear to ear as I walked across the stage to receive my diploma. Only she is not here now :(, but I do know she was shining down on me as I learned that I have finished both semesters with a 4.0 GPA. Grandma I did it… aren’t you so proud?

It has been a difficult past year of trying to juggle everything and I am so looking forward to a break and getting caught back up with everything. The house has really suffered over the last year and I am pretty stoked to go through and everything organized again.

I am so happy that my girls are seeing me doing this and showing the great example that schooling does pay off.

Now let the summer begin and the blog posts start forthcoming on a regular basis now. I know you all missed me right? 🙂

Children need praise when growing up. Amen, right?

They do not need to just hear:

“Sit down”, “Stop that now”, “Don’t give me that attitude”, “Go clean your room”, “Do your homework, now.”

Do those phrases sound familiar? It is tough just typing those out, because at times I do feel like all I am constantly doing is disciplining. Life shouldn’t be like that. Small Talk By A 5 Year Old

My youngest dear daughter L is always keeping us laughing with the phrases or words she comes up with. Since I do turn these blog posts into books for my girls to keep and treasure when they grow up, I wanted to make sure I wrote a few down of what she has said lately. I’m sure you will smile and laugh as well.

Last night, L was really wanting to get home to see her beloved cousin Noah so when we stopped for yogurt at TCBY she announced to hubby:

“Let’s hurry up and finish eating daddy so we can get back to business.”

My oldest dear daughter M was drawing a picture on a paint program on the computer. L went by her and took a double take and said:

“M that picture is hideous.” Have no idea where she picked up that word… She is only 5?

M had a very bad stomach bug last weekend and she was laying on the couch. L goes over and jumps on her back. I said L, honey get off M’s back. Her tummy is still not feeling well. L said:

But mommy, you have this observation wrong. I was laying on her back, not her tummy.

Today we were driving home from M’s sporting events and L was getting a bit of an attitude. I said now L, mommy is not going to tolerate that attitude young lady. She said:

Mommy, I am not a lady. Lady means a old person.

When they are doing a project at school and L’s teacher has all the kids around the table, L’s teacher said L will cross her legs and lean on the table then clap her hands and say:

Ok, Mrs. W, let’s get this party started. Mrs. W said they crack up laughing every time!

I so adore her. She is always making us laugh and can turn your mood from sad to happy in just a matter of seconds. Thank you L for being YOU! We love you 🙂
