So we are into July now of Summer vacation! The first couple of weeks was fun, games, and just all excited about being on summer vacation right? Then comes the “Mommy, I’m bored”, “Mommy, I need something to do”, or “Mommy, I don’t want to play that again.
We were contacted about the Summer Bridge Activities books.
My oldest M, has had a very busy summer, but she is really missing school. She definitely takes after her mom as being a book worm. She was very sad school was letting out for so long over the summer. When I showed her this book, she immediately jumped up and down. She said “Mommy, this is my very own homework for summer?” Yes, my dear! There is a page for everyday or you can even do two or more pages a day. M and I have had a really great time working on this book together. It is preparing her for the first grade with reading, writing, math, and language skills. When she completes a day all on her own, she gets the biggest smile on her face. I really think this is going to push her confidence and self-esteem levels even higher for this next school year.
Also, there are awards in the book you can give your child for their accomplishments. Any child loves awards and I have been pairing them up with my own. We have been doing TCBY days on Wednesday for her very own special reward for doing a great job.
I really love how this workbook let’s them still have a great summer vacation from all the school work, but it is just enough to keep their wheels turning in their mind so they don’t completely forget about all the skills they have learned.
I am going to give away a Summer Bridge Activities Book to one of my fellow readers. Just let me know in the comments below of what Summer Activity you all have been doing to keep the “I am bored” comments away. I will run this giveaway till Sunday night July 19, 11:59pm EST.
