Heated Luggage That Kills Bed Bugs?

The news leaves my skin crawling every time it does a segment on bed bugs. Fortunately, I have never had to experience bed bugs when traveling but I have heard of a few horrific stories including my friend Tonia Sanders, The Chatty Momma.

After hearing her story, I was so thankful that ThermalStrike had sent me their newest line of heated luggage to do a review. ThermalStrike is bed bug-proof luxury luggage that uses state-of-the-art infrared heat technology to actively kill bed bugs. Must-have accessory for an infant car seat carrier

Infants are so sweet. I am enjoying being a Nonnie so much to Baby Jackson. He makes our entire family smile and L said last night she wished he was our baby the entire time. I think someone is loving being an Aunt. He is only slightly spoiled, who am I kidding? He is going to be very spoiled.

As infants gain more weight, carrying them in their car seat can be hard on the arm and elbow. Charlotte, NC mompreneur, Michelle Walsh, has designed a cover that envelops the entire top of the uncomfortable plastic car seat handle. The cover is made with colorful, durable corduroy and memory foam cushioning. Parents and caregivers can now tote their babies in comfort and style. My step-daughter loves carrying Baby Jackson with the Cocoonies on the handle. She loves the padding feeling and also the included toy ring. The padding feels like memory foam. Each time I have carried Jackson in his car seat, I have loved it as well.

Make your own laundry detergent {Easy}

As you know, we are trying to cut costs out of our budget. My husband is actually the one that came up with the idea of us making our own laundry detergent. He made the trip to the store and bought the ingredients and we are loving how easy it is, not to mention how cheap!

You need the following ingredients:

– 1 cup of Borax
– 1 cup of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
– 1/2 bar of Fels-Naptha
-1/2 bar of soap (we use Lever 2000)

You do not have to use a 1/2 bar of soap. You can use the entire bar of Fels-Naptha but I just like using the soap to give it a more fresher scent.

Pour in 1 cup of Borax and 1 cup of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda into a bowl. Then use a grater to shred the bars of soap.

Stir ingredients really good until they are mixed well.

You are finished. It really is that easy. Use one tablespoon per laundry load. You can use two if you have a very soiled laundry. Your decision.

Interesting Statistics on Eco-Friendly Housing

With Green Month (and Earth Day) fast approaching, realtor.com conducted a survey to discover how eco-friendly housing is catching on with consumers. Turns out, more than 80% of respondents would like to own a residence that is eco-friendly, and nearly 70% would pay more money for it!

Of the 31% of respondents that currently live in an eco-friendly home, 66% have children.

· Of the more than 80% of respondents who would like to own an eco-friendly residence, nearly 65% have children.

· More than 30% of respondents currently live in an eco-friendly residence – nearly 80% have energy-efficient appliances while almost 75% have energy-efficient lighting.

o Women make up more than half of respondents currently living in an eco-friendly residence.

o Nearly 70% of the respondents currently living in an eco-friendly residence have children.

o Of the respondents currently living in an eco-friendly residence, 10% are in California; nearly 6% in Florida; nearly 6% in Illinois; 6% in Pennsylvania; 5% in New York; 5% in Texas; 4% in Colorado; 4% in New Jersey.

· Energy-efficient appliances, lighting and air conditioning were among the most desired eco-friendly home features – nearly 80% of respondents want all three.

· Nearly 40% of respondents are willing to give up square footage for an eco-friendly residence while 75% would sacrifice a pool and 74% a game room.
