Congratulations to comment #3 Mami. You have won the VSP Experience.
Did you know computer eye strain was the number one computer related complaint? It is no wonder in this digital age, when we always have some type of tech device in front of our face. Sadly, children and teenagers (ages 8-18) are spending more than 7.5 hours a day. I have wrote several posts about turning technology off and spending more time as a family. I am guilty with staring at a computer too long and it really hits home with VSP Vision Care 3rd EyeFiles episode. Tune in and listen how we can combat digital eye strain. Simple and short steps that will help us so much.
Very interesting right? VSP is taking it one step further to help you. One lucky reader is going to win a VSP Experience. The VSP experience includes an exam at a VSP doctor (you can find a doc near you at www.vsp.com) and a Lens/Frame (or contacts in lieu of lenses and frame). The frame/lens allowance is $130 allowance -or- a $130 allowance towards contact lenses/fitting. Below please see a list of covered lens options…
– Blended Bifocals
– Progressive Lenses
– Photo chromic
– Plano Lenses
– Tints and Dyes
– Scratch resistant coating
– Anti-reflective coating
– Rimless Mounting

Disclosure: I am a VSP Ambassador. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.

I spend more than 10 hours per day in front of the PC, so yes I’m afraid that some day my eyes won’t take it anymore. I’ve read that you need to rest your eyes every 3, 4 hours in front of the PC. Hm…i do hope i could do that. Who know maybe in the future this will be a law.
The question I would ask is if I should be concerned about my children using computers at school and having eye strain. My 8 year old loves using the computer and I wonder if it makes a difference that he puts his face very close to the screen.

Is there a safe distance to be from the monitor. My kids tend to sit up real close to it. I’m afraid it’s harmful to their vision.

Why is it that my eyes suddenly don’t seem to “work together” anymore. Seems like one or the other is always slightly out of focus. I’m 40, so could it just be age-related?
how long do you wait to have cataract taken off the eye mverno@roadrunner.com
I always hear how easy cataract surgery is. When my mother had her cataract in one eye removed, part of the cataract fell back into the eye. Needless to say, she needed additional treatment and was subjected to a lot of pain.
How often does something like this happen? And is it true that near-sighted people are more prone to this problem?
Thanks for the giveaway!
btw, when the company where I’d worked switched to VSP, my eye doctor was among those who participate, unlike our prior plans where you could go to the mall stores for checkup and glasses. I loved their plan(VSP).

I would ask how much kids computer time should be limited
My grandson lives in Europe (I’m in the US) so we “skype” weekly so that he’ll know me and I get to be a part of his life (besides, he’s so cute I love looking at him). He’s not yet a year old – should we keep the time he’s looking at the computer screen to a certain limit?

Does background color on a screen matter? Almost all of the pages on the internet are on a white background and I always wondered if over time that could be harmful to your eyes.

I would ask what equipment measures eye pressure and how?
I’ve always been told that laser surgery can’t be done on my eyes. I was born with strabismus and myopia. Will laser surgery ever be able to help?
Could my time spent in front of the computer screen be contributing to my eye sight declining?

I’m extremely nearsighted. Is it dangerous to sit too close to the monitor? How close is “too close?”

I would ask if there is a way to fix astigmatism
I wonder if sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time has any effect of astigmatism?

What can we do to reduce eye strain when we work in front of a computer all day? Is there lighting we should consider? Or anti-glare screen?

Thanks for the giveaway…I would ask about special eyewear that may prevent eyestrain in my kids, and myself, when using computers over extended periods.

My question is my kids my oldest and next to the oldest have computer classes during the day at school and if time premitting after chores and homework they get about an hour video games and or tv. How bad is this for their eyes ? My oldest sometimes will come home with a slight mild headache but his eye exam checks out ok.
