Green smoothie are two words that really don’t sound appetizing right? I am blessed to work with a nutritionist. As I mentioned to her, my blood work came back showing low iron, she looked at me and said: “You need a green smoothie.” I wanted to walk away. Thankfully, my feet stayed firmly planted to the ground as I love my morning green smoothie! This smoothie is so much better than taking an iron pill each day. I recommend you try this at least once.
Recipe:
1 cold or frozen sliced banana (medium) 105 calories
2 cups of your favorite greens (spinach and kale are really good for vitamin C and iron) 14 calories for spinach and 66 calories for kale
4 ounces unsweetened coconut milk (you can use sweetened if you don’t mind the few extra calories) 11.25 calories
Blend this until smooth
Add one generous cup of your favorite frozen fruit (I use the Great Value frozen fruit from Walmart) 70 calories
4 ounces of your favorite Bolthouse Farms or Naked fruit smoothie juice 35 calories
Blend until smooth…you may have to add more of either liquid to make more fluid to your preference
Total minimum calories: 235.25
If you are trying to increase your fiber intake, 2 tsp of flax seed or chia seeds are great to blend in as well.

Hi Jen, I am excited to try this smoothie recipe as I have been drinking smoothies for weeks now adding good things like spinach and yogurt and yummy fruits. Recently bought a Ninja blender and boy has my family been going to town. How we lived before this Ninja I will never know. Aren’t these smoothies the greatest things in life, you can drink healthy by sneaking in some veggies and it’s good for you. Thank you for sharing your recipe. Love Sharon

Sharon, YES! I love my Ninja. I use it each morning and it creates the smoothie so well. I am so thankful that my co-worker shared the recipe with me. Love it so much.
