I get so irritated of this each year. Why do we celebrate Christmas? In my household it is the celebration of CHRIST’s birth. So when I see someone X out Christ it makes the hair on my spine stand up. I do not know who came up with this idea but I really wish it would go away. I love the phrase “Jesus is the Reason for the Season”
We need to keep Christ in Christmas so we can keep the holiday of what it is suppose to be and not let it ALL go to commercialism. Now listen I think a little commericalism is fine as we talk about Santa here at our house and that is who brings the gifts on Christmas Eve but I also want my girls to know that we are celebrating Jesus’s birthday as well and we help in celebrating by the whole family enjoying gifts just as Jesus would want us too. He loves to see everyone’s face light up with JOY!
Does this bother you when people X out Christ?

Jen – I don’t like seeing Xmas either.
My kids were getting too caught up in the commericalism of Christmas. It bothered me so I developed some Bible study lessons to help reinforce the true meaning of this season to them.
I don’t mind if they like getting gifts, but I want them to realize Christmas is about SOOO much more than that!

I’m with you. CHRISTmas is the only way! I know some people use the X and think of it as a cross and I just don’t get it it and X is not the same at a cross.

I think people do it sometimes because they are too lazy and xmas is easier to type out. But, I do agree this time of year is about Lord and Saviours birth.

I totally agree. It is Christmas and yes Jesus is the reason for the season! As a Christian this time of year is hard to ‘swallow’ with all the merry xmas, etc’s.
I miss hearing people say Merry Christmas too. You used to walk into Wal-Mart or some store like to hear people tell you Merry Christmas but now a days they have to say Happy Holidays ๐ But I guess happy holidays is better then not allowing them to say anything!
