Let me just say:
A 26 foot moving Truck and Honda Odyssey Van = 400.00 Gas
15 Hour Road Trip = My Sanity
Map Question Stupid Directions = My Sleepy Head
We are still a family = PRICELESS
I am just glad we are here now in one piece. This move has been something else.
Let me just give you an idea of our move:
First off… mom and dad said their stuff would fit on the 26 foot truck we got. Well by the time we got most of our stuff on there we realized it wasn’t all going to fit, so Scott and I started calling people to come get the stuff we wouldn’t be able to take. All the girls outdoor toys, a couch, a night stand, an entertainment center, a hope chest gosh I could go on. We did this so mom and dad’s stuff would fit. Well we leave our house for good.. everything is cleaned there and head to mom and dad’s so we can get their stuff on the truck.
There is no way their stuff is going to fit, so we take off ALL our stuff on the truck and rearrange stuff. Mom says she only has 23 boxes… whatever she had probably about 50 boxes, so by the time we have all that stuff off the truck we realize they are going to HAVE to go rent another one. All this AFTER we gave all our flipping furniture away :(. Scott and I are SO MAD. It’s 9:00pm on Friday night and we were suppose to leave Friday MORNING.
We finally get done loading their truck for the night go in mom and dad’s house sleep till around 3am. So we get about 3.5 hours of sleep. Get up and finish loading mom and dad’s stuff and off we head out at 5:15am in the morning. Dang mapquest directions were way off so what should of took us 11 hours to get here took 15.5 hours. Here we are driving on 3.5 hours sleep. Scott was driving big truck, I’m driving the van. It’s all we could do to stay awake. I was splashing water in my eyes, drinking coffee, banging my head on window, rolling window down. It was crazy. We pulled in here Saturday night at 8:30pm and still had to unload our crap because truck had to be back.
I told Scott it can only get better. I have cried so much. He has helped me through it so much too though. He is so strong and I’m just too emotional at times.
Here is to a much better uneventful week. Despite all of this, I am glad to have this new start and glad to see new things happening for our family for the BETTER!

My parents always told me that if you can stay married through a move then you’ll be together forever…. and they’ve made at a minimum of 10 moves…. 🙂
Glad you’re there safe and sound… 🙂

Oh hun…I got your email about this, too. Here’s to hoping things calm down and get back to normal very soon.

Oh Jen – I just got a referral from MM to contact you about business and saw your blog. I’m reading and shaking my head because we have relocated a couple times and I know how stressful that can be. You know the saying though – what doesn’t break you makes you stronger! Hope you get some rest and then some time to enjoy your new home and community!
